Genshin deep dive: the only one of nine gacha whose recent rating rose
Activity is a runaway #1, and the only game whose recent-review rating climbed is Genshin. We read the quiet rebound of a mature blockbuster with data.
Active, rating and keywords are MinMix estimates from Google reviews (relative/trend); country revenue cites Apple's official charts (measured).
Over four years old, Genshin's absolute rating isn't high — the residue of early review-bombing still weighs on its overall score (3.20). Yet its recent reviews sit at 3.33 — higher than the overall, and the only riser among nine games.
Still the most-touched gacha
In activity (weekly review inflow) Genshin remains dominant. Neither its HoYoverse siblings nor any of the nine come close.
A four-year-old game, still the busiest of all.
And only Genshin's recent stars went up
The same week, eight of nine saw recent ratings fall. Only Genshin moved up — a sign live operations are holding players right now.
The texture of the rebound shows in keywords. Genshin's top recent words are story · characters · good — not crashes or ops backlash, but satisfaction with content and narrative. New regions and characters seem to have re-seated long-time players.
Attention worldwide, yet absent from top grossing
That attention isn't revenue, though. Even Genshin fails to enter the Apple grossing top 15 in Korea, the US or Japan. KR/US aren't markets where gacha tops grossing; Japan is, but domestic IP holds the slot. Activity and satisfaction are a separate axis from monetization rank.
What happened next — absent from all eight readings
This piece was built on Google review estimates. After publishing it we took the Apple grossing charts once a week five times, then three more days from mid-September. Across those eight readings Genshin was never in the top 15 in Korea, the US or Japan.
That does not mean Genshin is small. Apple publishes only to 15th place, so we cannot see below it; we read the iOS chart only, and only three countries. For a game weighted as heavily toward Android and the Chinese market as Genshin, three charts are a particularly poor ruler.
The fact belongs somewhere else. Our Korea report counted “zero gacha in the top 15 — no Genshin, no Arknights,” and five weeks later that line still holds. Genshin's absence is less a fact about the game than a fact about what these three charts contain.
So let this piece be clear about itself. The activity and ratings above measure what people write; a grossing chart measures where money goes. For Genshin we have measured only the first, and the conclusion goes only that far.
Eight readings, zero appearances in three countries' top 15.
