Epic Seven deep dive: the real reason its rating fell the hardest this week
A −1.12 drop, the biggest of nine. The cause wasn't the device or the content — it was operations.
Active, rating and keywords are MinMix estimates from Google reviews (relative/trend).
Epic Seven is a solid game at 4.24 overall. Yet its recent reviews read 3.12 — a −1.12 gap, the steepest weekly drop of nine games. What happened?
Steepest drop — it stands alone
Line up the recent drops and Epic Seven is out front by a distance, well ahead of #2 Zenless (−0.73).
Same fall, but a different cause means a different recovery.
It's ‘operations’, not the device
The keywords name the cause. Where Zenless's complaint was crashing · phone (device), Epic Seven's is different.
Not fun or stability, but events, rewards and communication took the arrows. This type differs: optimization complaints are fixed by patches, but ops complaints must be resolved with rewards, notices and communication — and the emotional rift runs deeper.
What happened next — it did not appear on the grossing charts
This piece was built on Google review estimates. After publishing it we took the Apple grossing charts once a week five times (August 17th, 24th and 31st; September 7th and 14th), then three more days from mid-September. Across those eight readings Epic Seven was never in the top 15 in Korea, the US or Japan.
That does not mean the game is struggling. Apple publishes only to 15th place, so we cannot see where below that it sits, and we read three countries. Markets with a large Android share, or other countries, may look different.
What it does let us do is state plainly what this piece is. The ratings and keywords above measure what people write; a grossing chart measures where money goes. They are different axes, and for this game we have only measured the first. So the conclusion here goes only that far.
Eight readings, zero appearances in three countries' top 15.
