Arknights deep dive: low heat, high satisfaction — and Endfield lands in Japan

Activity is mid-pack but sentiment is top-tier. On a loyal, quiet fanbase, its successor Endfield entered Japan's grossing chart.

📌 W33 update — since this deep dive (W32), Endfield dropped out of Japan's grossing top 15 (#13 → off the chart). The launch boost cooled in a week — exactly the watch-point flagged in the ‘Endfield’ section below. See the weekly trend →

Arknights is a quiet game. Its weekly review inflow (activity) sits mid-pack. But move to sentiment and the story flips — overall rating 4.36 (top tier), and recent-review rating 3.92, second of nine.

Low heat, top-tier satisfaction

By recent rating alone, Arknights is second only to NIKKE. Its drop is a small −0.44 too — not explosive, but an unshaken curve.

Not a spike but persistence — that's the Arknights curve.

The main game is quiet, but the IP moved to a new stage — Endfield

Being gacha, the Arknights main game isn't in the KR/US/JP grossing top 15. The real signal this week is on the successor side: HyperGryph's new title Arknights: Endfield entered Japan's Apple grossing at #13.

New gacha, enters JP grossing

One IP expanding on two tracks — a persistent fanbase for the main game, revenue entry for the new one. Japan is the only major market where gacha and character IP open wallets, and Endfield just stepped through that door.

What happened next — neither the game nor its sequel appeared

This piece closed by calling Endfield's global rollout “the next inflection point.” Since then we have taken the Apple grossing charts once a week five times, and daily for three more days from mid-September. Across those eight readings neither Arknights nor Endfield was in the top 15 in Korea, the US or Japan.

The W33 update above noted Endfield leaving the Japanese top 15; it has not come back since.

That does not mean either game is struggling. Apple publishes only to 15th place, so we cannot see below it, and we read three countries. For a game like Arknights, whose Android and Chinese-market weighting differs, three charts are a poor way to measure size.

What it does clarify is what this piece is. The activity and sentiment above measure what people write; a grossing chart measures where money goes. We have measured only the first for this game, so the call that this is “a good window to get in early on the IP” holds inside that axis alone.

Eight readings, zero for the game and its sequel alike.
Deep-dive verdict — Arknights is an IP that lives on persistence over heat. The main game's high satisfaction means steady build and guide demand (which ties to this site's calculator traffic), and the next inflection is Endfield's global rollout. Now is a good window to get ahead of the IP's attention.
