It beat gacha on revenue — but its satisfaction is dead last
Western-survival title Whiteout hit #1 grossing in Korea. Yet its recent-review rating is 2.69, lower than any gacha on this list. We read the price of a #1 with data.
Grossing rank cites Apple's official chart (measured); rating, keywords, activity are MinMix estimates from Google reviews (relative/trend).
This week's hottest story wasn't gacha. Century Games' Whiteout Survival reached #1 grossing in Korea, clearing the wall that gacha and MMORPGs had held — on revenue. Yet open the reviews and the signal reverses.
Top on revenue, dead last on satisfaction
Whiteout's overall rating is an ordinary 4.1. The problem is its recent-review rating of 2.69. Line it up against nine gacha titles and it sits at the very bottom — below even Zenless (2.98), whose rating collapse we covered last week.
The wallet opens, but the stars close.
The complaint — not content or device, but money
Gacha complaints split by cause — crashes (Zenless), ops (Epic Seven), the pull system (Blue Archive). Whiteout's is simpler and blunter. The repeated low-star words are money · spend · ads — pay pressure and ads.
It's the classic Western survival · 4X profile — free players stall, and winning means opening your wallet. That's exactly why satisfaction is low while revenue is high.
So why is it #1? — revenue and satisfaction come from different layers
Last in rating yet first in grossing isn't a contradiction. Survival · 4X revenue is made by a few heavy spenders. Many low stars and a few deep wallets coexist. Where gacha lives on a broad fanbase's affection, this genre lives on narrow, deep spending — a completely different revenue structure.
